Solo Exhibit Marie McKenzie
Painting and Woodworking Exhibition
Keystone… the top influential piece that holds it all together, whether it be our most precious resource on earth or the apex predator of the animal kingdom. Without this very important and weight bearing stone, everything would collapse. This exhibition explores water as being key to the environment, in so many ways, from how it is sustained and engineered, in case of mammals, to the way it moves, carving the land from chasms and cascades, to ocean currents that create our climates of the world.
Featured Artist Jeff Weekley
After a career of being an advertising art director in New York and Los Angeles, I fulfilled my life long desire to become a full time painter. Along the way I discovered narrative paintings. They often didn’t tell a story but instead encouraged viewers to ask questions. When viewers ask “What’s this painting about?”, I never answer them. Instead I ask what they think the painting is about. It becomes personal at that point. And ultimately exciting to me to hear the different scenarios people see in my work. Francis Bacon put it nicely, “The job of the artist is to always deepen the mystery”.
